Printing Your Downloads

For customers printing at home

  1. Download the PDF and open it in a PDF reader.
  2. Use US Letter paper, 8.5″ × 11″.
  3. Print the first and last PDF pages separately:
    • Print in color on cardstock supported by your printer.
    • Choose single-sided printing so the inside of each cover stays blank.
  4. Print the interior—all pages except the first and last:
    • Use regular white printer paper.
    • Choose black and white or grayscale.
    • Select double-sided printing → flip on the long edge.
    • Keep every interior blank page included. Turn off “skip blank pages” if that option appears.
  5. Select one page per side and Fit to printable area. Print in the original order; do not select booklet printing.
  6. Place the front cover first, followed by the interior pages, then the back cover with its design facing outward.
  7. For a finished book, take the printed pages to a print shop for spiral binding along the left edge, with the portrait cover upright.

The worksheets are intentionally sideways within the book—turn the book to use them. Most home printers will leave a small white border around the covers.

If your printer doesn’t print double-sided automatically, follow its manual duplex instructions and test a few pages first.

You can give them this note with the PDF:

Please print this book at US Letter size, 8.5″ × 11″.

Covers: Print the first and last PDF pages in color on cardstock, single-sided, leaving the inside covers blank.

Interior: Print all pages between the covers in black and white on regular white paper, double-sided, flipping on the long edge. Preserve all blank pages in the interior—they are intentionally placed behind the worksheets.

Layout: Print one PDF page per side in the supplied order. The sideways worksheets are intentional; keep their orientation as supplied. Fit the artwork within the printable area without clipping text or drawings.

Assembly: Place the front cover first and the back cover last, with both designs facing outward. Spiral-bind along the left edge when the portrait front cover is upright. Please check that the punch holes clear the worksheet grids and text, and allow enough room for the book to lie flat.

The main difference is that the print shop handles the cardstock, double-sided printing, and binding for the customer.
